Visit to the Tatra Museum

Message of the day: Be the change that you wish to see in the world. Attributed to Mahatma Ghandi and offered by Al

The day started auspiciously. A labor law requirement means our bus driver must have a 24 hour break from driving the bus – even for a small distance. This meant our day was reversed. We did not teach English in the morning. Instead we went to the Tatra Museum.

At the museum each class guided their teacher through the museum and explained the exhibits. Susan pointed the students seemed to enjoy the opportunity to teach the teacher and showed great pride in their history. The trip was a worthwhile experience.

In the afternoon after obiad we resumed our classes. However, after the first two sessions it became clear that the students were tired and distracted by the long day. Several of the teachers decided that a better approach was to engage the students in other activities, rather than sitting at tables. The girls played Frisbee and some of the boys kicked the futbol. Still during activities such as these we engaged students in English conversation.

Lori, in preparation for the July 4th day, discussed the American Revolution within the context of a game. Barbara and Kaelen worked with their students on the skit for July 4th.  During the final class hour, this group joined with Lori’s students to decorate the cook-out area for the 4th of July.
The afternoon ended with Fred getting the news from home that his dog, Rolf, was fine and was missing him.
