Message of the day shared by Eric: Students don’t care how much you know until they
know how much you care. This quote is attributed to many, many persons, but is
thought to have been originally started within the medical profession with the
use of the word patients at the beginning.
“Oh, what a beautiful
morning; Oh, what a beautiful day; We’ve got a beautiful feeling ;
everyone’s loving Friday."
Bringing the week’s
language lessons to a close was the “Virginia and Washington, D. C.” show
brought to us (all 54 students, counselors, and teachers) starring Ben and
Eric. Some of us had to be open to learning about what we thought we already
knew. Perhaps even Wikipedia Dick didn’t know about Mount Trashmore as many of
us didn’t.
Eric captured the
students’ attention with pictures of an aircraft carrier. Later he drew ooohs
and aaahs with pictures of his dogs Stella and Bella, and then, aaaws in response
to the cat pictures. The students waited expectantly for the Google Earth
photo to zoom in on Ben’s school. After a virtual tour of the National
Zoo, Eric got a standing ovation. Oops, after much applause, I guess the
students were rushing off to lunch.
But speaking of
standing ovations, every meal at Reymontowka is a five star event with some
part of the meal pleasing every palette. Polish Nutella, anyone?
In the afternoon, Brenda, Ben, Eric,
and Gary were off to Krakow, and Lori, to Warsaw. They missed the
spaghetti that Dick, Greg, and Freya and Sophia and I carfed up so quickly that
Greg was off to the kitchen for more before he was intercepted by Wojciech who
thought Greg couldn’t communicate with the cooks, but the empty dish and Greg’s
great smile would have said it all.
After supper Sophia
and Connie rushed off to Siedlce and Lublin and Dick, Freya, and Greg
whiled away a leisurely evening in the workroom.
Tune in tomorrow for
the weekend’s travel highlights, and remember: “there is nothing either good or
bad but thinking makes it so.” Aaah Shakespeare!
